Through her journey with digital platform, The Global Human, Loureen has always seen humanity through the layered lens of the soul, pushing beyond the borders and the headlines, and seeking the substance that connects us all.

As 4th of July approaches, we connected with her about a song she created with Grammy winning artist Poo Bear, (lyrical mastermind behind “Despacito,” and countless more) Grammy nominated producer Shndo, (maker of Justin Bieber‘s “Peaches“) and Australian producer Royal.

Entitled “Home of the Brave” – Loureen’s song, a hopeful anthem for unity, is a timeless, uplifting human experience, wherever you might stand politically.

-Loureen, you’ve written poems, songs, and stories, what is your source of inspiration?

“I see life as a hand full of stories. And there are so many ways to share those stories. For me, poetry, has always been a deeply personal and honest means for me to express truth in a digestible way. Less intense. More intentional. My inspiration comes from my faith, as well as my deep well of empathy, (for better or worse), haha. When you have the means to feel for others, or when you yourself have experienced certain traumas, you are able to express those experiences in a way that hopefully provides perspective, and a little more intimacy with various subjects.”

As the United States celebrates freedom this year, your song mentions that sentiment in the line “If we want to be free, it’s time to be brave.” What does that mean?

“That’s probably one of the most important verses, and I appreciate you highlighting that. Freedom is connected to courage. Courage to believe in the impossible. Courage to believe for the better. And I believe, currently, on a global scale, if we would be brave enough to embrace our differences, we just might find the rhythm we need to live in a world where freedom is not a fight, but rather, a right. But honestly, it starts with the courage to see past our differences, and be willing to love and hear one another, even when we face disagreement.“

Freedom is connected to courage. Courage to believe in the impossible. Courage to believe for the better.

As a media presenter you often tell stories deeply rooted in culture and hope, what draws you to that world?

“I am a first generation Arab American, so, whether I choose to or not, I have a natural understanding of immigrant communities, and an organic connection to, sometimes, marginalized groups. Growing up speaking Arabic and Spanish has also been a helpful and joyful tool to connect to so many different worlds. It’s something I have learned to celebrate and honor, rather than feel pigeon holed because of it. But the truth is, culture and hope can be identified in any setting, whether it’s sports, music, or politics. People simply want to feel heard and understood, and it’s my honor to be a conduit of that, however it is manifested.”

You’re certainly a versatile storyteller and we are looking forward to following your journey, anything we should look out for?

“More poetic rhythm for the soul, more cultural content for the air waves, and most importantly, more peace and positivity, God willing, for all of us 🥰.”
